My theme for my advanced higher folfio was 'Nonsense', I took inspiration from Dadism, Monty Python and Alice in wonderland.
I wasn't quite sure what path I would take with my folio at first and so I began with creating 'Nonsense' self-portraits, insects and mushrooms can be seen as influences from the beginning.
This is an acrylic painting of the real puss moth caterpillar that is the inspiration for the children's book main charcter. The end of the puss moth is made of paper-mache and has magnets in it, the frame the painting is in also has a magnet in it. This made the end of the puss moth caterpillar movable and removable, which made it easier to transport.
Below is exploration of the main character 'Puss Moth'.
Below is the final product of the folio, a children's book that follows 'Puss Moth' a caterpillar that seeks attention and ends the book succeeding in this pursuit but doesn't quite get what he wanted. The pages below are the edited versions of the analogue work, the pages may differ from what the final book looked like because elements of the final book were 3-D and some parts moved.
